Lauren DiCioccio

When I was a kid I used to harass my parents about all the baby photos of me that apparently didn't exist. Because I was born in 84, they told me, all my baby photos were on these things called "slides" which you couldn't view without a projector. Because my sister was born in 87, all her photos were on paper prints. I just didn't get it.

I now have a new-found understanding and love of the 35mm slide. These gorgeous embroidered  works of art are by Lauren DiCioccio, and I'm smitten. From the artist:

I am drawn to slides as precious objects: the fragility of the translucent negative material and intimacy of the scale of a palm-sized slide are particularly endearing- I hope to capture this tenderness in my sculptures.

I believe she has.
