Waiting For Winter
via Bobby Stokes
So I'm looking forward to my first real winter here in Japan. Coming from Sydney, I was told I "wouldn't enjoy" Tokyo's winter. One friend actually suggested I may "die, screaming". Well contrary to popular belief I am, in fact, able to buy warm coat so I can then enjoy my days frolicking in the crisp, cold air. Much like this trio:
GAUNTLET HAIR // I was thinking... from caitlin mcnichols on Vimeo.
Though in Tokyo there will be far less snow, probably no bonfires and no sensationally happy dog. I have been listening to I Was Thinking by Gauntlet Hair almost continuously lately. There's something about the grey mornings and sporadic rain that just seems to work. Found via Knife Wives. Do yourself a favour and download Shinya's superb playlists.

There is something quite bleak and austere about Japanese winter that I love (and hope I will do by the end of February).
Stay warm.

I love the quietness of Japan's winter. It might be sound really weird, but I like to go out during snowy night. Just snowy night, no wind in a small country town. Yes, its really weird but it really makes me calm and relax. Maybe if you are going to On sen this winter, you should try.
Stay warm and take care.
p.s love all those photos.
Thank youuuu Kate! Walking through a quiet country town on a snowy is EXACTLY what I want to do. Then hit the onsen to warm up! Sounds perfect! Now I just need some time off..!
